In 2022 a circular energy storage system from BatteryLoop was installed at an office building in Gothenburg, made with second-use batteries.
Goal: Enable daily fossil-free commuting for all employees.
Challenge: Install power-secure car chargers to an office building’s existing electrical connection, without skyrocketing power and electricity costs.
Solution: BLESS™ I, built on premium second-use lithium-ion forklift batteries. BLESS™ Cloud to monitor and manage the system.
Result: 35 % reduced power peaks, more favorable consumption curve for electricity trading and added revenue from the markets for flexibility and frequency reserves.
55 electric vehicle chargers, where four of them offers semi-fast charging of 22kW, are connected behind-the-meter to the building’s electricity connection.
The energy storage system is managed by BLESS™ Cloud and deliver both local and electricity market features.
According to operating data from the first year it has proven reliability and reduces maximum peaks with 35 %. For some hours it has also delivered important flexibility to the local grid, by powering the whole building for one hour.
It has also successfully demonstrated both accuracy and response time to meet the requirements to participate in the market for the fastest frequency reserves (FFR).
